Eat, Drink & Be Happy

“A Romantic Dinner” Prices

A romantic meal made for less than $10! Much less expensive than going out to eat.

Vegetarian Pasta
Great Value Lasagna Hamburger Skillet Dinner $1.00
1 medium zucchini $0.37
Great Value 14.5 oz can Italian style diced tomatoes $0.63
Great Value 6.5 oz can mushrooms, pieces and stems $0.64
Toasted Garlic Bread
Loaf of French bread $0.90
Classic Fudge
2 boxes Baker’s semi-sweet chocolate                                                           $4.00  ($2/each)
Great Value 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk $1.42
Total $8.96

All following ingredients were purchased at Wal-Mart.

Comments on prices:

  • Crushed red pepper flakes, garlic powder, parmesan cheese, butter and vanilla are not included in the list because they are pantry staples and were not purchased specifically for the meal.
  • I purchased the loaf of French bread at a bakery reduced price. Originally $1.50, the price was reduced to $0.90 due to the approaching ‘use by’ date. If you will not use the loaf before its ‘use by’ date, slice it, return it to its bag and store it in the freezer. Instead of cooking it in the oven, put the frozen slices in the toaster, then butter and dust with garlic bread.
